Breakfast should start at Prejeans where you can get anything from Pain Perdu (French Toast) to steak and eggs. This is a great little Cajun restaurant to being your day. |
Lunch |
Old Tyme Grocery is one of the best lunch spots in town if you're looking for a little local flavor. They serve some of the best po'boys in town. No matter what you like on your sandwich chances are they have it. They have a variety of meat and seafood to choose from. |
Dinner |
To finish out your Cajun day of dining stop at Blue Dog Cafe for dinner. They have really great Cajun dishes and a great atmosphere. The restaurant is decorated in paintings by local artist George Rodrigue. There is also a fully stocked bar in the restaurant that can make whatever you like. |

What to Do... |
Morning |
Take a road trip down to Avery Island to see where Tobasco is made. You can start your tour in the country store where they have more items made from Tobasco and more flavors of Tobasco than it's possible to imagine. You can take a tour of the processing and packaging plant and are also able to watch a short movie about the making of Tobasco. You get a few small bottles of Tobasco to take home with you and the tour is free. |
Afternoon |
Take Lake Martin road deep into the country and find Lake Martin. Here you can drive into the swamp and see alligators and birds of all kinds. You will see cypress trees and plants that you may not have ever seen before. There is also a boardwalk to view the water better. There is also a rookery there. |
Evening |
On Friday evenings in Lafayette the best place to be is downtown. There are two outdoor stages and there are free concerts there. There is food and beer to buy and even an outdoor fountain for the kids to play in while you enjoy the music. You can bring your lawn chairs and sit there and enjoy the band and the people. |
Late Night |
Stay downtown after the music is over and you will find bars and clubs of all types up and down the street. There are laid back clubs where you can visit and drink wine as well as dance clubs if that's your thing. No matter what you're looking for you'll find it there. |
